Total 66 incidents were recorded worldwild in the first quarter of 2018, among of which 39 vessels were boarded. Bulk carriers and oil/chemical tankers are typically targeted vsls.
29 piracy incidents are in the Gulf of Guinea, and 22 incidents are recorded in Nigeria. A surge piracy attacks occurred around West Africa.
